Impact is at the core of our strategy
We take an active approach to managing impact at
the transaction, portfolio, and organizational levels.
Clear impact thesis and objectives
Each fund and mandate is guided by a clearly articulated impact thesis and theory of change, supported by defined impact indicators and quantified targets.
Ex-ante impact assessment for every investment
Our Impact Investment Management (IIM) system embeds impact objectives and indicators directly into asset selection and the investment process. Every investment is assessed for alignment with the impact mandate and its expected impact performance as part of the investment decision.
Portfolio-level impact management
Combining diverse impact and financial objectives often involves trade-offs. These are assessed at the portfolio level to inform portfolio construction and investment selection, optimizing the fund’s overall impact, risk, and return profile.
Impact learnings informing investment strategy
Impact performance is assessed at the portfolio level by measuring each fund against its impact targets. The results inform portfolio and strategy adjustments. Lessons learned are discussed in advisory committee meetings and annual planning, ensuring strategies evolve based on experience and outcomes.
Multiple approaches to impact monitoring
Measuring development impact is complex. In addition to systematic investee reporting, we commission third-party impact assessments on selected investments and conduct client outcome surveys. These independent assessments complement regular reporting by adding depth, qualitative insights, and objectivity to our
understanding of impact.
Aligned incentives
Company-wide incentives are linked to the achievement of shared impact objectives, ensuring alignment between our mission and performance
